Apple Turnover
Copous To Leave Team

Nashville, TN

In breaking news out of Nashville, it has been announced that Apple All Star First Baseman Christi Copous has elected to opt out of the final year of her contract with FreshPoint and will instead enter the lucrative free agent market heading into the 2008 season.

Although attempts to reach Copous a 4 time All Star and the 2005 Granny White Female Player of the Year were unsuccessful, AGFHOF Don Bernitt was contacted at his sprawling Nashville estate for his reaction to Copous's departure from FreshPoint. Said Bernitt, " Graveyards are full of irreplaceable players and on top of that I've been wanting to play first base for a while so this is no skin off my back." " Although I wish Ms Copous well, I also look forward to beating her brains out if we go up against her next season" added Bernitt

Asked if Copous's leaving FreshPoint might lead to the first ever retiring of a number by the team, the hard of hearing Bernitt said " I don't think calling anyone retarded does any good and I wont get into a mud slinging contest over her leaving FreshPoint"

When then asked if he expected any other roster moves to take place before the Apples begin their 2008 chase for the Coed Softball World Championship, Bernitt said " Gosh I sure hope not, but I've been playing this game for a long time and nothing surprises me anymore."

With her departure from FreshPoint now official, Copous leaves behind a record of achievement that will be hard for anyone to match. So with that, there is but one more thing to say.. Best Wishes Christi and rememeber, once an Apple always an Apple.
